Foundation & First SAHPRA Registrations

Ascend Laboratories (Pty) Ltd established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alkem Laboratories Limited. First wave of SAHPRA product registrations secured for Alkoxime and Mycokem ranges.

2014

First Commercial Product Launches

Mycokem 500 and Mycokem 250 commercially launched into South African healthcare market. Cefuroxime-based Alkoxime range reaches hospital procurement networks.

2021

CNS & Specialty Portfolio Expansion

Successful market entry for Linezolid and Cefalexin products. Ascend expands its specialty pharmaceutical offering into CNS and anti-infective therapeutic areas.

2022–2024

CNS, Immunology & Metabolic Launches

Olanzapine, Rasagiline, Quetiapine, and Mycophenolate sodium products commercially launched. Distribution partnerships broadened across public and private sector.

2025–2026

Strategic Portfolio Growth

Launch of Dapagliflozin, Gabapentin, Vortioxetine, Solifenacin, Cholestyramine, Zolpidem, and Tamsulosin — cementing Ascend as a multi-therapeutic generic leader in South Africa.
